Special Plate Details

The Special Plate Details screen is displayed when information entered on the previous screen has been successfully validated. To continue the transaction, you will be required to enter additional information about the special plate. If you know what vehicle the special plate will be displayed on, you should also enter the plate type and plate number that is currently displayed on the vehicle.

  • Existing Plate Type

    The existing plate type refers to the type of number plate currently displayed on the vehicle (eg. alpha-numeric, premium, personalised etc).

    If you enter an existing plate type, you are also required to enter the existing plate number.

    Select the appropriate plate type from the drop down box.

    Existing Plate Number

    If you know what vehicle the special plate will be displayed on, enter the existing plate number that is currently attached to the vehicle (eg. VHC340) in the box provided.

    If you do not provide an existing plate number, the special plate will need to be collected from a Customer Service Centre and the existing plate number supplied at the time of collection.

    Plate Size

    You can choose the plate size you wish to order.

    The plate size options available for personalised plates are as follows: -

    Select the plate size you desire from the drop down box.

    Plate Colour

    There are a variety of plate colour combinations to choose from when ordering a personalised or custom plate.

    Colour combinations available for personalised plates are:

     White on Blue White on Magenta White on Red
     White on Maroon White on Green Blue on White
     Magenta on White Red on White Maroon on White
     Green on White Green on Yellow 

    Colour combinations available for custom plates are:

     White on Blue White on Magenta White on Red
     White on Maroon White on Green Blue on White
     Magenta on White Red on White Maroon on White
     Green on White Black on Gold Black on Silver
     Black on White Black on Yellow Black on Lemon
     Gold on Black Silver on Black Green on Yellow
     Green on Lemon Blue on Yellow Blue on Lemon

    Select the plate colour you desire from the drop down box.

    Plate Format (custom plate only)

    The plate format identifies how the custom plate number is printed on the number plate. The number may be printed as either a one or two line format.

    If the number is to be printed as just one line, a maximum of 7 characters may appear on the one line with no spaces.

    If the number is 1 to 6 characters, and is to be printed on one line, you can specify how the characters are to appear (eg. if the plate number is 4UTWO, and you want it displayed as 4 U TWO, you would enter 4<space>U<space>TWO).

    If you have chosen a plate size of Slim on Front/Square on Rear or Square Pair, the plate number may be printed on two lines with a maximum of 5 characters on the top or bottom line. No spaces are allowed. (eg. if the plate number is TOOCUTE, you can have it displayed in two lines by entering TOO in line 1 and CUTE in line 2).

    Enter the plate format you desire in the space provided.

    Term of Agreement

    A new custom plate agreement must be paid for a minimum of twelve months. Monthly periods in excess of twelve months are acceptable up to a maximum of 36 months.

    Select the desired term of agreement from the drop down box.

    Distribution Method

    The distribution method determines how the ordered plates will be dispatched. You are required to choose to either collect the plates from a Registration and Licensing Centre or have them posted to a nominated address.

    To collect the plates, select the Collect from' option and select from the options listed in the drop down box. Note: - If you have not entered an Existing Plate Type and Plate Number as part of this transaction, you are required to select this option.

    If you want the plates to be posted, select the Send to Postal Address option and enter the postal address in the space provided. The postal address may contain alpha and numeric characters and must include a suburb/town and postcode. A postage fee is charged if this option is selected. Note:- The address entered by you as part of this transaction is purely for the postage of the plates ordered and will not update the Register of Motor Vehicles.
