Client and Special Plate Details On the Client and Special Plate Details screen you are required to identify the client wanting to purchase the special plate by entering their client number, surname or organisation name and date of birth (for individuals), together with the desired plate type and plate number. The client can be an individual person, a joint ownership an organisation or a government department, provided they have already been assigned a client number by Registration and Licensing. A client number is a unique identifier assigned to all Registration and Licensing clients (eg. individuals, joint ownerships, organisations etc.). The client number is used to identify a client whenever they conduct business with Registration and Licensing (eg. a client number is assigned when a drivers licence or learners permit is issued or when a vehicle is registered). A client number contains six (6) characters and can consist of all numeric characters or one or two alpha characters followed by numeric characters (eg. 012345, A12345, ZA1234). Enter the client number of the client wanting to purchase the special plate into the box provided. If the special plate agreement is to be in a joint ownership, you are required to enter the joint client number in the client number field.
A joint ownership is where a vehicle is registered in more than one owners name (i.e. a minimum of two or up to a maximum of six different clients) and one member is nominated as the registered operator. A new special plate agreement can be applied for under a joint ownership, provided the joint ownership has already been assigned a joint client number by Registration and Licensing. A joint client number is a unique identifier assigned by Registration and Licensing when a joint ownership is established. The joint client number is used to identify the joint ownership whenever they conduct business with Registration and Licensing. A joint client number contains six (6) characters and consists of one or two alpha characters followed by numeric characters (eg. A12345, ZA1234). If the new special plate agreement is to be in the name of a joint ownership, you are required to enter the joint client number in the client number field.
Client Surname / Organisation Name You are required to enter the surname or organisation name of the client wanting to purchase the special plate. If the new special plate agreement is to be in the name of a joint ownership, you are required to enter the surname or the organisation name of the registered operator. If the new special plate agreement is applied for in the name of an individual person, you are required to enter their date of birth. If the new special plate agreement is to be in the name of a joint ownership, you are required to enter the date of birth of the registered operator (for an individual only). Leave this field blank if the new special plate agreement is applied for in the name of an organisation or government department. The date of birth must be in the format of DDMMCCYY (13051964). The plate type refers to the type of special plate you wish to order. Select either personalised or custom from the drop down box. The plate number refers to the characters that are to be displayed on the number plates you wish to order. The letter and number combinations available for personalised plates are as follows:-
The plate number option available to custom plates can include up to 7 characters, with at least one alpha character. Refer to plate format for other custom plate format options. A special plate agreement cannot be issued if the plate number you nominate duplicates a number that already exists or if the plate number is inappropriate or potentially offensive. An individual person must be 16 years of age or over and have a client number assigned by Registration and Licensing before a new special plate agreement can be applied for in their name. An organisation (Body Corporate) may be:
(Some other corporate bodies may be established by an Act of Parliament) A new special plate agreement can be applied for in the name of an organisation provided the organisation has already been assigned a client number by Registration and Licensing. A vehicle may be registered in the name of a government department provided the department has already been assigned a client number by Registration and Licensing. The 'Registered Operator/Owner' is the person or organisation responsible for the day to day operation of the vehicle. If a vehicle is registered in one name only (either individual person or organisation), this client is considered to be the registered operator/owner. If a new special plate agreement is applied for under a joint ownership, one member of the joint ownership is nominated as the registered operator. The Record Special Plate transaction allows delegates or members or the general public to establish number plate agreements and order personalised or custom number plates. A special plate agreement cannot be issued if the plate number you nominate duplicates a number that already exists or if the plate number is inappropriate or potentially offensive. Where a delegate performs this transaction, a plate agreement certificate can be printed on-site. Where a member of the general public performs this transaction, the plate agreement certificate will be forwarded in the mail. The number plates will be available for collection/posting in approximately 10 working days from the date of order. A person nominated by an Authorised Agent and subsequently granted authority by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to perform transactions via EzyReg. A delegate must be employed by or associated with an Authorised Agent and can only undertake transactions and issue auditable items assigned to the Authorised Agent. A person or organisation that has entered into an agreement with the Minister for Transport to use the EzyReg system. The Authorised Agent has overall responsibility for the integrity of the transactions processed and compliance with the guidelines and requirements of the agreement. Auditable items (eg. registration certificates, number plates etc) are issued to the Authorised Agent.
